INTRODUCTION

To achieve the goal of creating a safe, sustainable, efficient and effective blood supply and service, all Blood Service Facilities (BSF) laboratory personnel should have the training, education, experience and skills to ensure that they carry out the required services and provide quality blood products. In line to achieving this aim, the TTI-NRL offers HIV and other Transfusion Transmissible Infections (TTI) Proficiency Training Workshop for Medical Technologists of BSF. The training is designed for the special proficiency skill in HIV and other TTI testing which consists of lectures, didactics, laboratory work, and demonstration. The TTI-NRL offers the following courses:

Full Course Training

  • A 6-day course offered for technicians wishing to apply for a new proficiency license. This consists of a 3-day lecture workshop and 2 days of laboratory work. Successful trainees for this course will receive a Certificate of Proficiency for HIV testing valid for 3 years.

Schedule for 2018:

  • Batch 1 – April 23 to 28, 2018
  • Batch 2 – August  06 to 11, 2018
  • Batch 3 – October  22  to 27, 2018

Refresher Course

  • A 2-day course offered for HIV Proficient Medical Technologists having proficiency certificates that exceeded their validity. This consists of a one day lecture on updates for HIV and other TTI testing and one day laboratory work.

Schedule for 2018:

  • Batch 1 – March 22 to 23, 2018
  • Batch 2 – October 29 to 30, 2018

For Regular Course:

  1. Accomplished Online Registration Form
  2. Photocopy of latest PRC Identification Card
  3. Endorsement Letter from the Pathologist or Head of the Agency certifying that the applicant is a practicing Medical Technologist in the laboratory for at least 6 months.
  4. Training fee – PhP 20,000/participant

For Refresher Course:

  1. Accomplished Registration Form
  2. Photocopy of latest PRC Identification Card
  3. Photocopy of expired HIV Proficiency License
  4. Endorsement Letter from the Pathologist or Head of the Agency certifying that the applicant is a practicing Medical Technologist in the laboratory for at least 6 months.
  5. Training fee – PhP 6,000/participant
