To achieve the goal of creating a safe, sustainable, efficient and effective blood supply and service, all Blood Service Facilities (BSF) laboratory personnel should have the training, education, experience and skills to ensure that they carry out the required services and provide quality blood products. In line to achieving this aim, the TTI-NRL offers HIV and other Transfusion Transmissible Infections (TTI) Proficiency Training Workshop for Medical Technologists of BSF. The training is designed for the special proficiency skill in HIV and other TTI testing which consists of lectures, didactics, laboratory work, and demonstration. The TTI-NRL offers the following courses:

Full Course Training

  • A 6-day course offered for technicians wishing to apply for a new proficiency license. This consists of a 3-day lecture workshop and 2 days of laboratory work. Successful trainees for this course will receive a Certificate of Proficiency for HIV testing valid for 3 years.

  • Batch 1 – April 24 to 29, 2017
  • Batch 2 – June 05 to 10, 2017
  • Batch 3 – October 23 to 28, 2017
  • Batch 4 – November  06 to 11, 2017

Refresher Course

  • A 2-day course offered for HIV Proficient Medical Technologists having proficiency certificates that exceeded their validity. This consists of a one day lecture on updates for HIV and other TTI testing and one day laboratory work.
